Xingchen shifts to lean against Xue Yang instead, breathing in his lover's scent and hugging him, chest to chest.

"You're my A-Yang. For now and always. I won't let anyone take you from me."

Xue Yang sinks into that embrace, a sense of relief and safety settling within him. Xiao Xingchen still wants him, still loves him... that's all that matters.

Still, he has to ask... "What about Song Lan?"

Xingchen drops kisses here and there, rubbing over Xue Yang's back. He knows the question is coming and he answers honestly:

"He wants to stay; he knows that I love you and that I refuse to leave you. I...want you to get to know him, A-Yang. He is a good man. What happened between you was...a mistake. There is no risk of me leaving you, A-Yang."

Xue Yang is quiet for a moment, jealousy simmering within him. He wants Song Lan to leave so that he can have Xiao Xingchen to himself, but he can tell that that would make Xingchen unhappy. Which he doesn't want.

He huffs a little, reluctantly, before answering, "...Alright. I'll... try." It's the best he can promise.

"Love, I came back to be with you." Xingchen tightens his hold on Xue Yang, speaking firmly, "No matter what happens, what you and I share is safe. I need you." he presses their heads together, "This might not make sense to you, but it is something I believe. Song Zichen is my soulmate. That means he and I share the same soul. If you love me, there is part of him you love too."

Xue Yang feels reassured by that - at least until Xiao Xingchen talks about Song Lan again. He frowns and makes a face. "What about me...?" he finally asks, hating how small his voice sounds. Why is only Song Lan Xiao Xingchen's soulmate?

Xingchen's cheeks turn bright pink and he smiles helplessly, kissing Xue Yang lovingly before he answers.

"I've been thinking... You must be part of my soul too. I didn't need my sight to follow you. I didn't need my sight to know you were gravely injured in that ditch either."

Xue Yang is a little placated by that and tightens his arms around Xingchen, pressing into the kiss. "I know you're mine... my soulmate." How could there possibly be anyone else?

Hearing those words makes him feel...whole. Xingchen smiles broader and presses messy kisses over Xue Yang's face.

"Trust me, love. I will not leave you behind."

Doing so would only make them both miserable.

"May I...test...something with you?" he wonders now if Xue Yang can hear his voice mentally in the same way Zichen can.

Xue Yang finally nods. "I believe you." A smile even forms on his lips as he's kissed all over his face.

He raises an eyebrow at that. "Sure, what?"

"Can you hear me, my A-Yang?" Xingchen relays the message, Core to Core, instead of using his voice. He caresses his lover's cheek the entire time, waiting patiently.

Xue Yang startles when he suddenly hears Xiao Xingchen's voice in his head! How the--- "Yes?" he says out loud, bewildered and not knowing how to respond back the same way.

A soft, loving grin follows that cute response and he touches Xue Yang's lips with his finger.

"It's a trick Zichen and I discovered. For years I've only been able to talk to him like that. But now..." he nods to himself happily, "My A-Yang can hear me too. If you want to respond in the same way, think about me... You might feel warm or see a faint light. That is our Cores connecting."

Oh, so Song Lan and Xingchen can communicate like that... Well, that makes Song Lan's lack of a tongue less of an issue. Though it also makes him feel a little jealous again, but this time he pushes it down. Xingchen is sharing with him now.

"Okay..." Xue Yang concentrates, thinking about Xiao Xingchen until he feels warmth spread through him. "Can you hear me?" he asks mentally.

"Yes!" Xingchen beams and rubs his hands over Xue Yang's sides, "I can hear you. I can feel you too. For our Cores to connect so easily... Mm. I was right and so were you."

Their meeting had been destined and now... Now they can see it through properly.

Xue Yang brightens up, all jealousy gone for the moment. They have a strong connection too, they're also soulmates! Take that, Zichen!

He grins and leans in to kiss him again. "I love you."

Xingchen kisses the bridge of Xue Yang's nose and then his lips, lingering there. He can't get enough of him and, frankly, he doesn't want to get enough of him. Living like this... He can be happy.

"I love you." he sends a warm pulse of love with the words so there is no mistake.

Xue Yang kisses him deeply and tenderly, holding him close to his own body. He gently strokes his cheek and nudges their foreheads together. "We should probably go back..." he says reluctantly. Or Song Lan might come looking for them. "I'll clean you up." Both the mess he'd left inside of him and the blood that had leaked from his eye sockets.

Xingchen melts into him, parting his lips with a soft moan. He smiles into the contact and cups Xue Yang's face between his hands.

"We will have more time together, love." he hears the reluctance and tries to soothe it. Nodding, he takes out a clean piece of cloth from his pouch.

"Use the water from the well. Just pull up the bucket."

Xue Yang gives Xingchen a final, lingering kiss before letting go and putting his robes back on. Once Xingchen is dressed as well, he takes his hand and leads him back to the house, bringing some water from the well back inside.

Song Lan had followed Xingchen part of the way when he'd ran after Xue Yang, to make sure that Xue Yang in his agitated state didn't hurt Xingchen. When instead he saw the two of the kiss... Well, he'd returned to the house. He's been pacing around ever since, trying not to let jealousy consume him too much.

When they return, he immediately notices the marks on Xingchen's throat and along his jawline and the fact that they're holding hands.

Xingchen, are you alright? he asks through their connection.

He dresses as quickly as he is able, still feeling shaky. Having Xue Yang to lean on helps, however, and he smiles as he is led back to the house. Zichen's voice doesn't startle him - he can sense when the other man is near - and he answers, sending the other man a rush of gratitude and warmth:

"Yes. He was just afraid I was abandoning him. I told him the truth about how...important...you are to me. He..." Xingchen smiles to himself, "...might try to know you better."

Xue Yang watches them both, figuring that they must be communicating mentally. His hold on Xingchen's hand tightens a little, but he doesn't say anything.

Alright. I prepared a bath for you. He figures that they'll both need it... Once again, he tries not to let his jealousy shine through.

He feels the tighter hold and he inhales, turning his head towards Xue Yang. It's difficult to not get lost in his thoughts - especially when he is having a conversation there.

"That was very sweet. Thank you, Zichen."

Xingchen lets his soulmate feel his gratitude and then he murmurs out loud:

"Zichen has prepared a bath for us. Let's go enjoy it, A-Yang."

"Alright." Xue Yang exchanges a tense look with Song Lan before leading Xiao Xingchen towards the washroom. He can't help but to feel a little thriumphant. Oh, Song Lan is definitely jealous. Serves you right!

Once in the washroom, Xue Yang quickly strips out of his robes again and puts them in a pile by the tub.

Xingchen smiles softly, aware of the tension yet, luckily, unable to see it. He follows Xue Yang and takes off his robes and his trousers, folding them neatly and setting them to the side. Then he feels his way to the tub.

"Will you help me, A-Yang?"
