Once in his cabin, Zichen sets the kitten down too. She gives another mighty mew and toddles over to climb on Xue Yang's foot. Clearly she is a hunter of feet!
The tom explores the new rooms and paws at the bed Zichen makes him.
"Tell me how you like it..." he strokes over the cat's back, amused.
Xue Yang giggles a little and picks the kitten up to pet her. So soft! She mews and tries to climb on his shoulder, so he lets her perch there. "I must be like a mountain for her to climb," he says.
The tom pat pats the bedding until he is satisfied. Then he drinks the water Zichen pours for him, fresh!
"She's learning her limits." he looks up, features gentling at the sight, "I wouldn't be surprised if she floated away like dandelion fluff with that coat of hers."
Xue Yang laughs and scratches behind the kitten's ears. "Mmm, she is very fluffy. There's already hair on my clothes." He'll forgive her for shedding though!
Xue Yang raises his eyebrows in surprise and then chuckles a little. "You've got a talisman for everything, huh?" He leans into Song Lan and slips his arms around his chest. The kitten mews and climbs onto Song Lan's shoulder instead to explore an even taller mountain!
"I...keep them to stay neat and clean." Zichen admits, a little shy, but he leans into the hold without difficulty, "Hello, little lady." he murmurs and carefully protects the kitten as she explores his shoulder.
"Oh. Smart," Xue Yang says as he affectionately rubs his cheek against Song Lan's other shoulder. Uh-oh, looks like there's actually three cats in the cabin!
The kitten starts batting at Song Lan's hair, clearly thinking it's some sort of toy.
The shyness intensifies at the compliment, but he doesn't let it stop him. He celebrates having a third cat! Smirking, he buries his fingers in Xue Yang's hair, leaning in, meaning to kiss him...
Then the batting starts. Laughing, Zichen waves the ends of his hair to attract her attention more.
Xue Yang pouts a little when he's not kissed, but the kitten's behavior is too cute to really be mad. He leans up and kisses Song Lan's cheek and then nuzzles against his ear. "She really likes your hair, huh?"
Zichen will make it up to him. A certain little kitten needs to be tired first. Her tiny paws and bright blue eyes make any frustration impossible to hold onto!
"She does." he leans into the nuzzling, kissing Xue Yang's cheek, "I used a light trick with my grey cat." he nods at the mirror, "Bounce a reflection off the walls and they will try to chase it."
Xue Yang laughs a little. "Aw. They'll chase just about anything, huh?" He reaches up to dangle his fingers in front of the kitten to see if she will try to catch them.
"They are little hunters." Zichen smiles when the kitten jumps to catch onto Xue Yang's fingers, "Be careful, A-Yang." the nickname comes...with ease. Naturally.
Xue Yang feels his face warm a little as he leans even more into Song Lan's arms. He sounds so sincere that Xue Yang can almost fully believe it. Instead of saying anything, he leans up to kiss him.
The kiss is met with quiet enthusiasm. The reminder of Xue Yang's soft lips and clever tongue leaves him delighted. His A-Yang, the one that could have almost been a product of a good dream, is right here. Zichen is convinced of that.
It's terrifying to feel like this for another person after all the heartache his feelings for Xiao Xingchen has caused, but it's difficult not to when Song Lan seems to want him right back. He's still half convinced that Song Lan is going to come to his senses and realize that he can't possibly be with someone like him, but...
He lets out a pleased little sigh into the kiss when their tongues meet, deepening the kiss further to taste his lover.
The kitten is gently scooped up and placed on a cushioned chair. Zichen doesn't stop kissing Xue Yang for a moment as he completes the task, using his other senses to make sure the baby is safe. The tom cat soon joins the kitten, curling around her.
All is well. Wrapping his arms snugly around Xue Yang's waist, he carries him to the bed. Their bed. Then he lays down, letting his lover choose whether he climbs over him or lays beside him.
Xue Yang melts into the kiss, wrapping both arms around Song Lan as he's welcomed into that hot mouth. He nuzzles into his neck when he's lifted and carried, clinging to him during the short walk to the bed. He makes the decision to crawl up next to Song Lan, immediately snuggling up to him.
The weight of Xue Yang leaning against him is sweet. Zichen's first instinct is to carry him to a place where he can rest. He smiles under the nuzzling and lays down on the bed, curious where Xue Yang will choose to be.
The choice makes his throat feel tight and he welcomes the younger man with a soft embrace.
"Mhm... they do," Xue Yang murmurs as he glances over to the cuddling cats. He nuzzles into Song Lan's neck and clings slightly to him. He's been so starved for touch and affection that he's become addicted to it now that he can get it so freely from Song Lan.
While rubbing over Xue Yang's back and arm, Zichen brushes his lips against the younger man's cheek. Then he relaxes back and hums contentedly. He likes this. He likes having company.
He...likes...Xue Yang. More than he should and far more than he ever thought he would.
But... He is needed. Zichen can't help but respond to that.
Being happy... what a strange feeling. The breach had happened at just the right time to distract him from his grief over Xiao Xingchen, though it might've also just postponed it. The fact that Xiao Xingchen is gone and that he'll never see him again hasn't quite hit him yet. Not fully. Not even after his initial reaction to finding out.
Song Lan has made things easier though...
He makes a non-committal sound and nuzzles closer, burrowing against Song Lan's side.
