[ He shuts the communicator off and stuffs it into his robes. He sheaths both swords in his qiankun sleeve and nods determinedly to himself.

A couple of hours later, he turns the communicator back on. He sounds absolutely exhausted. ]

Fuck, I made it to the next portal. It's some weird waterfall that flows backwards? I think I have to climb up somehow, but I'm gonna take a break first. I found some rocks to rest on for now.

[He will seek out the Admiral and make himself heard in the meantime. This is far worse than man overboard! Eventually he finds himself on deck, still soaking wet, his hair sticking to his cheeks as he looks over the side. He isn't sure what he is expecting to see, but his heart is in his throat the entire time.

Jumping at the sound of Xue Yang's voice, he fumbles with his communicator.]

A-Yang? [He curses softly.] Use Fuxue. Fly up it.

[ Xue Yang lets out a relieved little sigh to hear Song Lan's voice. It's comforting. ]

Oh, right. Yeah, I'll do that in a moment. I don't know what's on the other side. I need to get some strength back.

[He knows the feeling! This is horrifying. Zichen won't be quiet about this even after Xue Yang is safe.

Which he will be...right?]

Do I need to anger you? I should be good at that. [If love won't do, he will rely on rage.]

[ Xue Yang laughs a little as he leans back against the rock wall behind him. ]

[ Another laugh leaves him at that. ]

Did you get in touch with the Admiral yet?

[He feels a cold rock in his stomach - different from his usual chill.]

A-Yang, you just...have to keep trying. [There is one way for Xue Yang to return, but Zichen wants to avoid it at all cost.]

I'm sorry. I would jump off of this damn boat if I thought it would help.

[ He smiles a little. ] You'd just get transported back. I think only the Admiral can let us off the ship.

[He has never depended on Fuxue so much!]

[ Xue Yang pulls Fuxue from his qiankun sleeve and slowly, carefully steps onto the blade. After a brief moment, the sword starts to fly up. ]

I'm going up!

[zichen]

He will respond to you.

[Without a doubt. Zichen grabs onto the railing of the Barge, his nails digging in.]

Hold on. Get to the top.

[ It does feel good that Fuxue actually responds to him! Some sword spirits can be picky and temperamental, after all. ]

[ He slowly glides up to the top of the waterfall. ]

Hold onto Fuxue. [Zichen shakes his head, flustered and amused.] Get back to me, imp.

[ Xue Yang giggles a little. ]

I'm coming back to you! You better believe it. This place fucking sucks! I want a bath and some sweets, and our bed... And I want you.

[As if his anger can do anything in this situation. But it's all he has.]

You'll have all three and more, I promise you. If you think you were spoiled before, you are mistaken.

[ Xue Yang grins. Listening to Song Lan is a nice distraction from how anxious he actually is deep down. ]

Oh yeah? Tell me how you're gonna spoil me. [ The sword finally reaches the top of the waterfall and gently takes him down onto the rocks. ]
