Sephiroth is really starting to regret allowing the animal to come with him back to the ship. Not only does it constantly knock stuff around, but today decided it's a good day to dart out the door.
Now Sephiroth is fast, he's actually very fast. But even being fast doesn't help when cats are liquid very capable of slipping away. Especially one that can apparently parkour off the wall in multiple directions.
By now he's just going to let the thing (hopefully) tire itself out, though it has made it's way to Xue Yang's cabin door and attempts to climb up it with the gravity defying abilities only kittens contain.
It's actually Song Lan's cabin, though they now share it, so technically it's Xue Yang's too. He's alone in it when he hears scratching on the door and goes to open, eyebrows raised when he sees the... cat? It's weird-looking, but then again, he's seen weirder on the Barge before.
"Hey kitty," he greets, bending down to offer his hand for the weird cat to sniff.
Xue Yang accepts the slap - a small price to pay for the honor of getting to pet a cat! He strokes over the cat's head and scratches behind its ears.
He glances up only when he hears a voice. Oh, it's that guy again. "Were you keeping it locked in your cabin or something? No wonder it wants to go out and explore then."
Xue Yang doesn't even try to repeat that name - no way he'd pronounce it correctly! He offers his own instead, "Xue Yang." He thinks he can definitely sense some sort of possessiveness in those words - as a possessive person himself - and smirks a little. "I'm sure he can handle himself."
"Hm." He doesn't comment on that. Zack has died once back home and once here. He can handle most situations. But he's still ... Zack. Not that Sephiroth will say any of that outloud.
Instead, he nods towards the cat.
"It seems many here have taken possession of an animal. Do you have one as well?"
"Yeah. Two cats. Normal ones." Xue Yang chuckles a little as he smooths a hand down the alien cat's back. He can't tell if its got fur or not... What a weird creature, but it does act like a normal cat. So far anyway.
"Back from a port?" Xue Yang asks. "Oh, was it that cool one with all the crazy shops and weird animals?" Damn, if he'd known there were alien cats, maybe he would've taken one for himself...
Xue Yang rolls his eyes. "I wouldn't say that. I kicked the little bastard off of me." He's not going to mention that its mother had then showed up and he'd needed Song Lan's help to get away without being eaten...
