It doesn’t take Zack long to arrive after Xue Yang is placed in Zero. He’s not happy at all, and he fully intends to get to the bottom of this.
He pulls up a chair outside the cell and sits in it backwards, his arms crossed over the back of it.
“You know, this really isn’t a great way to start off our official Warden-Inmate relationship. I hope that little stunt was worth it to you because you look like shit.”
Xue Yang is not happy about being locked in a cell. It makes him feel like a caged animal. He's been pacing around, occasionally kicking a wall. His robes are covered in blood still, and his face looks pretty messed up. Nothing broken - amazingly enough - but he's very bruised and swollen, with dried blood around his nose and on his cheek.
He looks up when he hears someone approach and sneers slightly at the sight of his warden.
"He deliberately got a friend of mine killed back home and now that he's here he goes around acting like he's fucking innocent. He's going to use this as an excuse to play the victim even more, and paint me as the big bad monster." He snorts derisively, and then smirks again. "Still worth it. Fuck him."
"He's been goading me since he got here. When I was in the infirmary he was mocking me while pretending that's not exactly what he was doing. He also put some fucking video on the network that featured me while I was dealing with the death toll, and pretended he didn't do that on purpose. In the library, he called me stupid and then I stabbed him. Figured he was asking for it."
“Okay so he’s a little shit. We can talk later about how stabbing isn’t an appropriate response to someone being a jackass. Where did all those injuries come from? Him?”
“So okay - making sure I have the timeline of this thing right. You had the argument with that guy, and you ended up stabbing him. He got away, he posted to the network, and then Xiao Xingchen came to confront you… I didn’t see any injuries on him in the network. Did you guys fight?”
"You got it." Xue Yang grins at the reminder. "Wasn't much of a fight. He just beat the shit out of me. In all fairness, I did egg him on." And he's not at all ashamed of the fact, as evidenced by the pleased expression that comes over his face. "Pretty sure he's been wanting to do that for a while now."
There is a pause before Zack just lets out a sigh.
"Okay. We'll cover that bit you mentioned about you wishing he didn't hate you another time. For now, I'd like to know who is from your world on the Barge and which ones you dislike. Or that dislike you. Or both."
Xue Yang shrugs. "It's just Xiao Xingchen, Nie Huaisang and Jin Guangyao. Xiao Xingchen hates me, but I don't hate him. Nie Huaisang hates me and I hate him. Jin Guangyao and I are friends."
